Of course, this does not literally mean dousing yourself in glitter or loading up on the bling. The simple formula to standing out at any party is to look and feel your best – with a little boost to your hair, makeup and outfit! So, check out this Quick & Easy Christmas Party Glam Look, courtesy of Metro, Lancôme and Hair Mori Salon, and learn how you can get this classy, understated look that’s also easy to pull-off!
Let’s break down the look -
Our party glam look focuses on a clear skin with a matte base, a sultry smokey-eye, classic red lips, and wavy, tousled locks.
1. Prep your skin
Always start with a clean canvas. No matter how minimal or elaborate your desired look is, a healthy and radiant complexion is always the first step to feeling confident in your own skin (literally)! So, before you apply any makeup, warm a few drops of Lancôme’s Advanced Génifique serum in your palms and gently pat all over your face. Rich in probiotics, the serum promotes the growth of healthy skin cells and is extremely hydrating. It also has a non-sticky texture that feels refreshing on the skin. To retain that glow after a long day’s work, simply pat a few drops of the serum on top of your makeup to give your skin extra luminosity. Then, you’ll be all set to party the night away!
2. Apply foundationFor a semi-matte finish with a brightening effect, apply the Blanc Expert Cushion Compact. Blend the foundation by dabbing the puff with gentle sweeping strokes in an outward motion across your face. Although the Blanc Expert Cushion Compact is a high-coverage liquid foundation, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and gives you that naturally flawless look. It also remains wonderfully smooth after many hours, and does not turn cakey if you touch up later on.
3. Create a Smokey-Eye EffectGet a gorgeous smokey-eye look using Lancôme’s Hypnôse eyeshadow palette. The shades are dusky yet mild enough to complement a bold lip colour. After dabbing on an eye shadow primer, start by brushing a light shade across your eyelids, with the edges seamlessly blended in. Then, blend in a darker shade on the outer corners of your eyes.
Pro-tip: Be sure to always start with the lighter colours first!
Trace a pencil liner over your lash line. In the video, we’re using Lancôme’s Khol Eyeliner Pencil. Top it off with a liquid eyeliner, like the Grandôise Liner if you’re going for a more intense look.
Pro-tip: Alternatively, dab a thin, angled brush in the darkest shade of your eye shadow palette. Moisten it with a drop of the Advanced Génifique and line your waterline with the eye shadow. This creates an effect that isn’t as harsh as a liquid liner, but provides more definition than an eye pencil.
Then, highlight your brow bone by dusting the lightest shade right below it. This will make the smouldering colours pop! Complete the look with full lashes using the Grandiôse Mascara.
4. End off with a lipstickThe best part about a festive glam look is a bold lip colour! So, check out these three gorgeous L’Absolu Rogue shades by Lancôme that have a moisturizing, buttery texture.
For a milder look in the day, opt for the sweet L’Absolu Rogue 264 Puet-Etre and switch to the L’Absolu Rogue 132 Caprice in the evening. A classic red that completes your smokey-eye look, the 132 Caprice has an understated flair that says “striking†but not “sirenâ€. If you’re more adventurous, the vibrant L’Absolu Rogue 378 Rose will lend a playful touch to your look.
Pro-tip: If you find a red lipstick too strong, mix it up with a muter shade! Apply the lighter colour first then dab a brighter shade on top. Use a lip brush or a clean fingertip to blend.
5. Style hair by drying and curlingFor that effortlessly chic look, create loose tousled waves with a curling iron. But before getting to the fancy steps, make sure you prep your hair with a heat-protecting product, such as the Mucota Aire+ Veil for Wave 06 from Hair Mori Salon. It’s a nourishing leave-on treatment that also smells amazing!
Next, brush out your hair and blow-dry it to help set the curls better. Start by sectioning your hair with a hairpin and clipping the top layer of your locks up. Then gather the bottom layer of your hair and halve it across your shoulders. For looser curls like the one in this video, use a curling iron with a bigger barrel. Wrap small sections of your hair in the curling iron and twirl each section away from your face. Hold for about 7 seconds before releasing your freshly bouncy locks from the curling iron!
6. Set hairstyle
Once you’re done, run a small amount of the Mucota Aire+ Veil for Wave 06 through the ends of your hair and use your fingers to brush out your locks for that casual unkempt effect.
